After an amazing holiday weekend, it is hard to think about doing anything productive, due to all of the fun and festive July 4th happenings that are filling my head. I spent the weekend in New Smyrna Beach with a few of my closest friends and family. Our days we filled with yummy food, some strong tasty margaritas, too much sun, and a lot of laughter. I am very lucky to have such amazing friends to hang with on one of my favorite holidays.
Holiday weekends and vacations tend to make it difficult to stick to much of a workout schedule. I know with me, if I run in the morning, I’m golden. Otherwise, it probably will not happen. So that was me, up with the sun. But hey, running early made it possible for me the enjoy quite the scenery. Not to mention, I was able to run in my new Brooks Glycerin 9′s – what a treat!! New shoes tend to make workouts fly by! I’ll take it
Breakfasts on my end consisted of Green Power Smoothies each day. I can’t seem to think of a better way to power myself through full days of sun and sand – these smoothies are sooo creamy and filling, not to mention crazy good for you and packed with nutrients. This is how I make it:
- 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder

- 3 hand fulls of spinach (hence the green factor)
- 1/4 cup blueberries
- 1/4 cup of raspberries
- 1/2 cup almond milk (or other milk you like)
- 1/2 cup plain lowfat Greek yogurt
- Ice!
