What a weekend I had! I completed my last 8 mile run before the marathon (Only 5 more days!!!), got in a great cross training workout, and played tourist to the max in LA!
I did the run on the treadmill (unfortunately) – I am staying in downtown, which is definitely not the most runner friendly place to be. I knew the only place that I would be able to get in all the miles would be inside in the hotel gym – quite the sight, let me tell you. The hotel is designed to be quite retro, and they definitely met the mark. Just look at the decor…
Yep, that’s wood paneling, plaid carpet, and a very rugged Silvester Stalone. I couldn’t help but laugh each time I worked out in here. It’s a bit of a change from the last hotel gym I worked out in!
After getting that run out of the way, the rest of the weekend was filled up with lots of touristy sigh seeing! When you only have 1 day and half to explore a city, you gotta get it all in! Of course, I went to THE most touristy place ever – Hollywood Blvd! I saw the Hollywood sign,
the Chinese Theater…
And caught a few stars on the Walk of Fame.
One of the attendees that is speaking at the conference that I am planning invited everyone out to his house on Sunday, over in Venice. We walked along the Venice canals, which I didn’t even know existed.
It was a fun place to see, and I was thrilled to be able to get a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean! I have lived close to the water my whole life, but I had never seen the Pacific Ocean before the weekend. It was cloudy, but still amazing!
I got so much exercise this weekend just walking around and exploring! It is pretty unbelievable the amount of ground you can cover when you are discovering a new place. Just walking to new restaurants and coffee shops is so much fun, and something I would love to be able to do more often at home. I am very guilty of constantly being a schedule, even if there isn’t too much going on. Enjoying the time to relax this weekend was very much so needed, and now I am ready to tackle the conference!! I have 2 long days of conference fun, and then I am heading to Nashville! I can not wait!! Woo hoo! Let the fun begin!

Okay, that gym is just plain ugly!
Have fun in Cali!
Fun photos
Glad you are having a great time AND organizing all of our activities!
Love the Stalone poster! I agree with you though, when I am in a new city I always feel like I get extra hard workouts in because walking around is my favorite way to explore a new place.
I HAVE THAT SAME DECOR IN MY BASEMENT GYM! What’s wrong with it? LOL. Fantastic photos and congrats on getting your workout in regardless.
I can’t believe your marathon is next week! Sending good thoughts your way for sure! Happy conferencing…those days can be long and TIRING!
Have a great conference…Had our last long distance ride before our cross country ride, we did 100 miles today! Best of luck on your marathon.
Quite the interesting decor in the gym LOL!
Sounds like a fun visit. I love walking around and discovering things when we visit places.
I’m running Nashville this weekend also. It’s my first Marathon, and I’m excited (and crossing my fingers that the morning will be cool!)
