Good news on the back front!! After Wednesday, it seriously loosened up! The spasms are gone, and the only thing I am dealing with now is the upper portion of my back that was compensating for the very weak low portion. I am a bit sore, but no longer in pain. Woo hoo!!! So of course, I went ahead last night and gave a very easy 3 mile run a try. It was just what I needed – it really helped to loosen up my glutes and hamstrings – the major cause of the back problem.
Then this morning was swim practice. We switched a couple of evening practices to the morning before work at a pool that just opened up for summer. It is a longer course (50m), and is just much, much bigger. It is considered an Olympic size pool. Getting used to swimming 50m instead of 25m definitely had me huffing and puffing today. It will be an adjustment, but I am excited to become a better, stronger swimmer!
We showed up to the pool and the skies were less than favorable.
Meghann checked in early to see if practice was still on, as we knew the rain was on its way. We decided to give it a go – as long as there was no thunder, we could get in our workout. The weather was not on our side today (or was it??!!)
We ended up getting in the pool just in time for the rain to start, and then come down hard. Oh well, we were in the pool after all
. We got in 40 minutes of solid work before the lightning started. Hey, I’ll take it! Being that it was my first time in the 50m pool, I can’t say I was too disappointed to get out of practice early! Besides, I did have to jet home to walk this little gem…
And I even had an excuse to wear a favorite recent purchase of mine from Rue La La! My Sperry rain boots! I was quite the sight walking Winnie in these beauties (and still clad in a sweet one piece swim suit).
Friday is already off to quite the eventful start! Hooray for the weekend!! Did you get in your workout yet? What’s your stance on exercising in the rain? Yay or nay?

we get so little rain here these days (texas drought) I SAY HECK YES!!!
Id get outside and dance!
It literally FLOODS at the middle school where I teach, so I keep a pair of oh-so-cute rain boots in my classroom when I have to walk around campus. Love yours! Adorbs!
I’m so impressed with your and Meghann’s swim workouts. Swimming is one of those things that really intimidates me! I need to seek out some adult swim lessons and get over that fear. I know that it’s such a good workout and easy on the body!
I love running in the rain. It makes me feel like a total badass.
I just got back from running in the rain! It felt really, really good! My lungs felt great!
I have a pair of bright yellow rainbow boots! They are my fave!
You doggie is very cute!
I love to run in the rain. As long as it’s not too cold and there’s no lightning, I’m all about it.
Nay
I do not like it. Squishy shoes and socks do not a happy camper make. Glad you got in your swim practice before the storm started. It’s been hit or miss lately in Florida. I kid you not it rained and stopped raining 4 times within a span of 20 minutes two days ago in Jax. Crazy weather!
