I was at a run group on Monday, and had a conversation that really stuck with me.
One of the other runners and I were talking about our running accomplishments. I shared with her that I am training for my 7th marathon. She quickly came back with “I could never do that”. Of course, I asked her “why”? If I could do it (6 times) then why couldn’t she?
She proceeded to tell me that she had run numerous half marathons, but the jump to the full was too daunting. She couldn’t go that far. To everyone thinking this same thought, you couldn’t be further from the truth.
I would imagine the first time you though about running a 5k, a 10k, or even a half marathon, you thought it was far. What got you through those races? Your training and the confidence that you knew you could do it. You believed in yourself. You pushed your body, and went that extra mile (no pun intended).
When thinking this summer about your fall goals, take that extra step. Give yourself that extra push. You are capable of so many great things. Set your goals high. You never know, you might just reach them!
And of course, running is just a good segway for this. It applies to every aspect of your life. Believe in yourself and be amazing!
