With Summer officially in full swing, the temps are definitely incredibly high even in the morning, so my post run meals have to be refreshing. I definitely focus on lighter choices, especially for breakfast. In the winter, oatmeal tends to be my go-to meal, but I really can not even handle having it right now – it is way too hot and heavy (and not in a good way
). Rather than the oats, I have been enjoying lots of yummy smoothies after my morning workouts. I’ve been sticking to some pretty standard fruit smoothie options, but I made one yesterday that I definitely want to share with you all!
I was making my smoothie yesterday morning, and noticed that I had some extra coffee left over that was going to go to waste if I didn’t use it. So I decided to put it in the blender and give it a go. Might as well try something new, right? Well it turned out great, and I definitely will be adding this to my smoothie list!
Here is what goes in it:
All you have to do is blend it together, and then you have a nice smoothie to perk up your day. If you are looking for a thicker smoothie, reduce the milk to 1/4 cup. I liked the consistency being a little bit thinner – peanut butter smoothies are hard to drink when they are super thick. And the best part? This should keep you nice and full for your morning, so you won’t need to snack on junk. The smoothie rounds out at around 550 calories. Seems like a win-win to me! (if you want to reduce the calories, reduce the peanut butter).
As for the cinnamon? It is my spice of choice! I have been putting it in everything lately – smoothies, oatmeal, coffee, banana bread – what’s not to love?!
Do you alter what you eat at all during the summer? What about smoothies? Yay or Nay?

Ha! This whole week I’ve been drinking smoothies out of my USF Bulls tumbler… too funny.
I do switch up my diet when the seasons change. Like you, I can’t stand hot breakfast food after a sweaty, humid workout so I have been going with smoothies or overnight oats. I’ve actually come to prefer overnight (aka cold) oatmeal!
Lol love it!
These kind of smoothies are my favorite! I like to freeze the banana (sliced in a ziploc bag – frozen banana peel is a pain!) and forget the ice. Sub in chocolate greek yogurt, and it tastes like a milkshake!
The frozen banana is awesome! I tend to forget to freeze them. And ya, I made the mistake of freezing the banana with the peel on once…won’t do that again!
This smoothie sounds delicious! I think I’ll try making one very similar this weekend. Thanks for sharing!
Glad u want to give it a try
I love it!
I love smoothies during the summer! I usually do them for snacks since I still like having something heavier for breakfast. They sure are refreshing though. This one sounds amazing. PB and coffee? Works for me!
You should def try it Tina!! It’s very tasty!
I add leftover coffee all the time in my smoothies. It’s great with PB or banana (not so much with blueberries – I learned that the hard way!)
Ooo blueberries?! Coffee?! Yikes!
I too love my protein packed morning breakfast in a glass.
For the chocolate I use the super 70+ nutrient packed whole nutrition of Shakeology, add PB2 (all natural-saves on fat and cals) or 1 tsp VIA. My ‘mochalicious’ is my favorite! Let me know if you’d like to try Shakeology and take your nutrition to a whole new level!
I love the addition of pb with the coffee and chocolate! Yum!
This does sound good! What protein powder do you like to use?
I use gold standard powder
We just bought a bunch of chocolate protein powder, so thanks for the recommendation for tomorrow’s post-workout smoothie! I’ll let you know how it is

[...] It gives it the extra flavor in the morning that really hits the spot. I also love to put it in my peanut butter coffee protein smoothie. There is just something about it that just warms me to the core! Another great place for cinnamon [...]
You actually make it appear so easy together with your presentation however I find this topic to be
really one thing that I feel I might never understand.
It kind of feels too complicated and extremely large for me.
I’m looking forward for your next publish, I’ll attempt to get
the dangle of it!
